Foggy Bottom

That name still makes me giggle a little every time.

I am now living in Foggy Bottom, D.C., officially. When my airport shuttle driver drove over the hill from Maryland and I saw the top of the Washington Monument and the Capitol Dome in the distance, I nearly yelped with excitement. It's real! DC is a real place! It's not the Shangrila or El Dorado for policy nerds! I quivered down to my internet-enabled cell phone and grownup faux-leather padfolio.

Tonight: Dinner Cruise on the Potomac.
Tomorrow: Meeting Clarence Thomas (yes, that Clarence Thomas)
